Rule Changes for January 2020

Hey guys – we’ve received plenty of feedback this past month so we’re announcing a bunch of changes/additions effective with this new wipe.

Clarifications

(in KOS/PVP rules) Players can defend the body/sleeper/vehicle of yourself or a friend. This only counts if you catch someone IN THE ACT of looting. You cannot attack if it is after the looting has happened or if you suspect the person without evidence. (If you do the looting, don’t brag about it)

Comment: This was already in effect, but we added vehicles to the wording.

(in General Rules) No code raiding or changing codes; No insiding a clan, when you leave a group, you can only take what you farmed. Never use a code that you find.

Comment: Added “Never use a code that you find”. We still have issues with this so hopefully this shuts down any question of what is code raiding.

(in Player Conduct) Looting a dead or sleeping admin is a bannable offense. If you find a dead/sleeping admin, report it to staff.

Comment: Formally adding this to rules. Admins only spawn in items to do server business (killing KOSers, etc). Players should not be stealing these items in the event of finding an admin body. If you find one, let us know and we will properly shame the admin.

Changes

(in KOS/PVP rules) If a player leaves the PVP zone/PVP dome, they are no longer allowed to return fire. The person in the red zone can continue to shoot until they lose visual of the player or 30 seconds from last direct hit. Once they leave the red zone, they can’t chase and fight. People who leave the red zone cannot return to that particular PVP zone (or attached ones) for 5 minutes. This does not apply to players who get killed in a red zone.

Comment: Now domes are covered when it comes to the PVP chase rule along with the 5 minute rule. We had a TON of complaints last month about issues with people diving in and out of the dome. We realize the 5 minute rule may be divisive so we can revert this change if it ends up being lame.

(in Wars -> War Process) For “All Out Wars” (HQ & CS Claims War): Defenders can petition War Council to veto war. War Council has 12 hours to vote on the veto request. If 2/3 of the War Council votes in support of the veto, the war ends. (removed it going to CS war)

Comment: Vetoing all All Out War now cancels the war completely. We’re hoping this makes people think twice before choosing All Out War as opposed to CS war.

Added

(in KOS/PVP rules) Do not abuse or stalk dome/zone lines. Sitting on the safe side of the border and intentionally diving in to catch people is abusing the dome line. If you are caught by an admin you will be killed, if people report a certain player or players doing this, they will be spectated and killed if caught doing this. Repeat offenders may be removed from the community.

Comment: We’ve seen a bad trend recently of players sitting outside of KOS/dome lines and diving in to kill people. The borders are meant to keep order to the server and aren’t meant to be abused.

(in KOS/PVP Rules) If you are caught stealing from a body/sleeper/vehicle/base, the owner or their friends can fire at you but you are never allowed to return fire. Your only option is to flee.

Comment: Per the poll, we have added a new risk element to being a robber. Now if you get caught, your only option is to run. So being stealthy is more important than before.

(in Land Claiming) Cities need to fill out application to become a city. Application located here.

Comment: We are giving cities more power to govern themselves. In doing this, we are forcing cities to fill out some information. Cities will also have to name four council members to help share the burden. Previously, the owner may go inactive and the city would decay leaving many homeless. Now it is up to all four people to prevent that from happening.

(in Frontier/City/Rp Evictions) If you evict someone from your city, you must keep their loot on hand for 24 hours and attempt to give it back to them.

Comment: As we give cities more power to control themselves, we want to make sure they aren’t removing people to gain free items. If you evict someone (with fair reason), you need to hold items and attempt to get them back.

Conquest Changes

(Removed) Conquest Claims are open PVP/KOS.
(Removed) Landmines/turrets are allowed outside but they can’t be on the border or able to shoot out into normal claims.
(Added) PVP is only allowed during active raids between the involved parties.

Comments: Conquest areas are no longer open PVP. Now PVP only occurs during raids. This includes allowing traps being outside. Now, traps must be inside (like everywhere else on the map excluding NML).

TLDR

  • Airdrop/Heli dome now has our PVP chase rule and 5 minute cooldown if you leave the dome.
  • If an All Out War is vetoed, the war is off. It no longer reverts to a CS war.
  • People sitting outside the PVP zone and stalking the line may get a rocket spawned on them.
  • Looting admins = ban
  • Robbers cannot return fire when they get caught.
  • Cities now have to fill out a city application but have more control of their city now.
  • Conquest claims are no longer open PVP. PVP only occurs during raids.

That’s it! Thanks everyone as always. Let us know your thoughts in the suggestions channel.
