The sun rose over the frozen peaks casting an array of prisms across the land. Yet no one came out to greet Santa and the reindeer as they made their final descent to perch gracefully on the festive runway. Santa pushed himself out of the sleigh – perhaps with a bit more difficulty this year as there were an awful lot of cookies that he couldn’t let go to waste beside the fireplaces. The reindeer appeared grateful as he began to untie their harnesses, and though he too was exhausted, a sense of dread wiggled through his jacket and crept along his limbs. The utter quiet at Santa’s workshop was unnatural – there should be celebrations and joy at this year’s success.
Several more moments passed before the reindeer were stowed away in warm surroundings with plentiful food and water for their efforts. Santa left the sleigh and made his way to the workshop itself. The snow crunching beneath his polished boots whispered ill thoughts into his ears and heart.
The workshop door groaned in duress as Santa shoved it open. Tables and chairs were vacant with no preparations in motion for the next year. Fires were unattended and growing weaker without fuel. On the table was a hastily written note, droplets of ink scattered along its length. Santa read the letter quickly before throwing it into the remnants of the fire.
Dissension. Betrayal. Corruption. Words bled into his memory as he worked towards the stronghold where his remaining loyal elves and Mrs. Claus set forth against the opposing forces of elves.
An uprising among the elves had occurred while Santa was traveling. With the Naughty List growing longer each year and the Good List growing shorter, many elves were angry at their efforts for spreading joy and peace to a dwindling population of Good. The corrupted elves spread discord through their whispers and plots that it was time to punish the children and adults for their lack of goodness. Biding their time for when Santa was gone and the faithful elves and Mrs. Claus weary from preparations, the corrupted elves unleashed a coup. Stealing the metal and glue from the workshop and making haste to the eastern shores, the corrupted elves are fashioning weapons and armor to further their plans.
The North Pole is in dire shape. Without glue, no more toys can be made and Christmas will be gone. No joy for the Good children of the world and only further Naughtiness will spread. And with their new weapons and armor, the corrupt elves seek to end the lives of all humanity in a misguided belief that it will forever remove the Naughtiness from this existence.
To save the world and to save Christmas, Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the remaining elves need your help.
