Rule changes for May 2020

Hey guys, we’ve been working on some rule changes for the last month or so and today we’re finally able to post all of these changes for you guys.

As always, if a new rule doesn’t work we can always revert it. Our goal is always to continue to make the server the best it can be for you guys.

Removed Rules

KOS claims are gone.

Due to a lack of usage we’re removing KOS claims. Since they were added they have only been used a handful of times and majority of the time they were done incorrectly and generally a mess. We still plan to include claimable KOS spots, but they would be pre-selected to avoid confusion.

New Rules

Spamming TCs in frontiers/cities is illegal. These are areas meant for many people. Standard claims can do this temporarily but too much spam may result in removal of TCs.

We’ve seen a new trend of people “pre-claiming” areas of the frontier. Frontier is meant to be a free build zone. If you have a special build you are going for, it may be better to go claim land.

In Frontiers, players are limited to 6×6 sized base or a total of 36 foundations (whichever happens first). If you need more room, you should claim land.

Similar to the new rule above, if you want to build something large, you should go out and find some land of your own. Frontier is too crowded to have large builds there.

Helicopters should not linger near KOS bubbles. If a helicopter is within ten foundations of a bubble and gets shot, they are considered lingering and to blame.

This has been a very constant issue we have faced. I don’t think people realize how difficult it can be to judge if a minicopter is in or out of a KOS dome. Understandably, people don’t want to die so they are quick to shoot. With that in mind, helicopters need to keep their distance from KOS domes. If you don’t want to PVP, head the opposite direction of PVP domes.

For the first 48 hours of a wipe, you are not allowed to relocate to a different claim.

Something we’ve been seeing for months, Group A claims the first spot they can find. Group B tries to claim that land but it is already taken so they find another claim that is less interesting to them. Group A now jumps to another claim which leaves Group B screwed. Group B built their base and now they don’t want to sacrifice all their building materials.
With this in mind, we’re placing a 48 hour hold on revocations. When you make a claim, make sure its the one you want.

In cities/frontiers, turrets are only allowed inside of sealed bases. No roofs.

Due to the high player count in frontiers/cities, turrets should not be placed on roofs.

Rule Changes

If a player leaves the PVP zone/ PVP dome, they are no longer allowed to return fire. The person in the PVP zone can continue to shoot until they lose visual of the player or 30 seconds have passed from last direct hit. Once they leave the PVP zone, they can’t chase and fight. People who leave the PVP zone cannot return to that PVP zone (or attached ones) for 5 minutes. This does not apply to players who get killed in a dome.

Due to some issues that popped up, we removed the part of the rule about losing visual. Both sides of a conflict see different things so one side thinks they are hidden and the other side swears they could still see them. Since the timer is only 30 seconds, if you find cover, just hide there for 30 seconds to pass and you are good.

Players can defend the body/sleeper/vehicle of yourself or a friend. This only counts if you catch someone IN THE ACT of looting. You cannot attack if it is after the looting has happened or if you suspect the person without evidence. (If you do the looting, don’t brag about it). You must warn the person before attacking.

We’ve had issues many times where players would walk up and murder someone near their friends body without a warning. The person looting had no clue if the incoming person was a random or a friend. Now, you need to say something and you can’t just open fire.

If you evict someone from your city, you must keep their loot on hand for 48 hours and make a reasonable attempt to locate the player and to return items.

We upped the time cities need to hold items to 48 hours. Now the city can’t just hold the loot, they need to try to find the person so they can help get their loot back. There are many reasons for wanting to do a city eviction, but it should never be about gaining loot.

Clarifications

These are rules that have already been in effect but we wanted to make sure they are written in the rules for newer players.

Only loot NPCs you kill/barrels you break. If someone is observed breaking this rule, they will be held to rule number one.

Technically this falls under “Don’t be a dick” but we wanted to make sure people see it. I’ve seen players follow others around and just loot every barrel the person breaks just to be annoying.

All clan loot must be stored on clan land in marked buildings. Cities only need to follow this during times of war.

We’ve already been telling cities this for months now but wanted to include it in rules. Since we’ve never had a city go to war, it seems unnecessary for them to do this since most cities are comprised of people who all live separately.

BONUS!

Admin Assistance: If players are making an event/build for the community where they don’t profit, they can appeal to staff for assistance. Staff will decide if the reason is valid to assist.

We’ve done this previously but want to formally have it in the rules. If you have an idea that doesn’t benefit you but is everyone, ask staff and we may help out. This typically is NOT resources.

That’s it!!

Thanks for taking time to read this. As always, if any of these rules end up being total duds, we can revert them. These changes are intend to make the server better and not kill the fun. So we appreciate your ongoing feedback.

Lastly, we’re in the early phase of a war rules rework so keep those ideas coming!
